Hello, my name is Teresa Millership CPCP; I am the Consultant for the South West in Medical Tattooing, Permanent Make-up and Paramedical Skin Camouflage. I am a valued member of The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals and a BASC practitioner with The British Association of Skin Camouflage. I also work closely with The Alopecia Awareness Support Group in the South West.
I meet many ladies like Debbie who have suffered hair loss through illness or alopecia. Eyebrows are a frame for our face, I have many different reasons given to me for why they would like hair tattoo simulation:
• I feel un-feminine with out them
• I have tried a pencil but I can not get them equal, or they rub off half way through the day
• I know that lady was looking at me in the post office cue, I don't want that kind of attention
• I just want to help myself feel a little like the old me!
For some ladies all they need is someone to one time with me to help them conquer the pencil application, as having a permanent make-up treatment is not a comfortable thought for them, or they may have a medical contra-indication. For those who would like to wake up every morning with eyebrows, then perhaps permanent make up could be the answer for you. Pigment is implanted into the dermal layer of the skin to simulate hair for eyebrows or eyelash enhancement for loss of eyelashes. Pigment colours can be matched to what your natural hair colour was or is (if sparse). They can look very natural or defined as you would like them.
I am very lucky, I immensely enjoy my work and I get to meet wonderful individuals like Debbie who are an inspiration to us all. It is a wonderful pleasure to replace something for someone who feels that they have lost part of their identity. I usually have to get a tissue out of the box to join them in their joy at the end result.
